Enterprise video management systems

The video management system is where cameras become a working security operation. FISSS designs recording architectures that are resilient, secure and easy for operators to use.

Why VMS matters for your facility

We size recording servers and storage throughput, configure failover so recording continues if a server fails, and set up user roles so each operator sees only what they need. Alarms from access control, intrusion and analytics are brought into the VMS so incidents can be verified and exported quickly.

VMS key specifications

PlatformsOpen-platform VMS such as Milestone, Genetec and Avigilon
ResilienceFailover recording servers and redundant storage
SecurityEncrypted streams, role-based user rights, audit logs
ClientsOperator workstations, video walls, web and mobile clients

Configured in line with manufacturer hardening guides and the applicable MOI-SSD requirements for central monitoring.

VMS engineering considerations

Storage throughput, not just capacity

Recording servers must write every stream continuously. We check disk throughput and IOPS as well as total terabytes.

Operator workload

Camera groups, maps and alarm-driven views reduce the number of screens operators must watch.

Hardening

Servers are patched, access is limited by role, and exports are watermarked to preserve evidential value.

VMS questions answered

Yes. Open-platform VMS products support most major camera brands through ONVIF and native drivers.

With failover configured, a standby server takes over recording automatically and the failed server's cameras continue to be recorded.
